
KEN LOCSMANDI
Director
| Ken Locsmandi has worked on several projects including THE MATRIX, THE CELL, and TERMINAL, as well as many other commercial, television, and film projects. Ken is Co-founder and CFO of Filmworks/FX Inc, which was created in 2000. Ken is originally from Roseville, California. He attended California State University, Chico on an advertising scholarship. During college, he worked as a graphic designer, animator, and storyboard artist. He graduated with a degree in Radio, Television and Film (Media Arts). Ken received a Special Award at graduation for advertising. He also received a State Award for a music video he directed which led to an invitation to attend the Humbolt State University Summer Film Program. In 1995, Ken moved back to Roseville and formed a graphics company with a partner. The company worked on CG commercials and web graphics. Ken then joined with a local filmmaker to co-executive produced an independent feature called Lost Tribes, concurrently working as a designer for a small multimedia company in Sacramento, CA. Ken then started his Mastery Program at the Academy of Arts in San Francisco after hearing that PIXAR was teaching classes there. Ken enhanced his storytelling and animation skills with Jimmy Hayward and Oren Jacob, who both worked on TOY STORY, TOY STORY 2, A BUG’S LIFE and FINDING NEMO. After a year at the Academy, Ken was hired as an animator on a film project called RUSTY A DOGS TALE, for Calico Creations. The film consisted of live action talking animals in which Ken developed techniques that the studio used in its animation pipeline. After working for Calico Creations for a year and a half, Ken re-opened his company in 1998. From 1998 to 2000 the company was contracted on such projects as: THE MATRIX, THE CELL, BACKSTEET BOYS and JANET JACKSON music videos, as well as many other commercial, television, and film projects. Also in the past two years, while involved in the visual effects industry, Ken has been writing and developing projects. These properties include film scripts and a television series which were optioned by Independent companies and studios. These projects are in development with Ken attached as creator. Currently Ken is Part Owner and operator of Filmworks/FX Inc. a full service post production facility. The company has film processing, telecine, editing, visual effects and Digital Intermediate. Ken has supervised such Projects as Smashmouth’s “Pacific Coast Party”, Lil BowWow, “Basketball”, Slum Village, “Tainted”. Ken won the Omni Award for best visual effects on television for the 2001 the season finale of JAG. Ken also won the Slamdunk 2003 film writing competition for his short film script The Piñata. He is also a signed music video director using the name Eastern Bloc, The name Eastern Bloc is representative of his Hungarian roots. In 2006 Ken Co-Authored, “After Effects @ Work.
